Re: Is there a better general travel card than PenFed Pathfinder?

I just did a $10 purchase with Marriott to see how it translates but the SUB states the following:

New Card Special: 10,000 bonus points!

When you get your new World MasterCard, you'll have a special incentive to start using it. Make $1000 in purchases within 2 months with the card and you'll receive 10,000 bonus points. Cash that in for $100 or bank it for something bigger down the road!

Just FYI, cash redemptions start at $50 and it takes 2-3 weeks to arrive in your bank account (no statement credit option.)

That looks promising then.   So the gift card option has a convenience fee!   Yes, you could get the cash and buy a gift card but we let you do it one step, for a fee....

Re: Is there a better general travel card than PenFed Pathfinder?

This one only has a $99 dollar annual fee which doesn't make it bad at all, if you can get the 4% by having a PenFed bank account.

It doesn't have the 5x/10x travel purchasing multiplier that you find with Sapphire Reserve or Venture X which is particularly nice if you are buying a lot of travel. Sapphire Preferred has a 5x multiplier on buying travel through the portal plus the 1.25 redemption at an AF of $95.

Factor in the 2.0 ccp with Chase and that 2 points on travel is actually worth 4%.

Official travel point totals as of 10/24/23 (1,324,497 Total Points)
Chase Ultimate Rewards 635,913 | IHG One Rewards 144,443 | Hilton Honors 143,801 | AMEX Membership Rewards 101,672 | World of Hyatt 90,413 | Marriott Bonvoy 65,343 | Citi Thank You 62,652 | Southwest Rapid Rewards 27,675 | United MileagePlus 13,316 | British Airways Avios 12,333 | Jet Blue TrueBlue 11,661 | NASA Platinum Rewards 1,883 | AA Advantage 1,744 | Navy Federal Rewards 792 | Delta Sky Miles 175 | Virgin Atlantic Virgin Points 100 | Lowes Business Rewards 6,992 ($69.92) | Amazon Rewards 3,090 ($30.90) | Discover CB 499 ($4.99)

OK, so you need $1,000 spend on airfare/hotel to redeem (as you are probably not going to use the card for other things, unless meeting the SUB when no travel is planned)

According to their rewards website that's no longer the case that you can't receive a statement credit:

Re: Is there a better general travel card than PenFed Pathfinder?

45 business days for a statement credit seems, um, excessive!

Once I do a redemption, I'll report back on how long the actual timeframes are but, yeah, 45 days does seem excessive...

For a datapoint, I requested the statement credit on 5/17 and it showed up today (6/14) - 27 days.
