I was not supposed to apply for anything new until at least late this year, but PNC sent me a pre-approved offer (I bank with them) to be a Charter member for their new Flex card. I app'ed online on Monday and the final screen didn't let me know APR or CL, just that I'd receive my card in 7-10 days. I called this morning to find out I'd been approved for a CL of 17.5K! That is definitely my highest limit. I did have an app spree in December adding the Citi Plat Select (5,900, just got soft CLI to 8000) and Discover More (5500). I've had the Citi MTVu Visa since 2008 and it now has a limit of 11.5K.
But how much credit is too much? I have at least 20 cards, including store cards. Will I get dinged for having too much credit? With the new card my total limits is over 60K of which I have 12K revolving (mostly 0% APR balance transfers, working on paying this down ). Thoughts?
Here is my breakdown:
PNC Flex - 17.5K
Citi MTVU - 11.5K
Citi Plat Select - 8K
Discover More - 5.5K
BofA WorldPoints - 5K (also recent CLI)
Nordstrom Visa - 5K
Barclay (Apple Financing )Visa - 4.5K (recent auto CLI)
Amex Blue - 1K
CapOne 750 (this was a steps card, I've come a long way!!!)
Store Cards
Express - 2K
Banana Republic store card - 1.5K
Victoria's Secret - 650
Walmart - 350 (LOL)
Macy's
Bloomies
Wow! You've got some nice accounts with nice limits. Congrats on this latest addition!!!
