Okay, so this was GE's reasoning behind not increasing my CLI:
Dear daybreakgonesXe,
GE CAPITAL RETAIL BANK has recently reviewed your request to increase the credit line on your JCPenney Credit Card Account.
We are not able to assign the credit line you requested because it exceeds the amount of increase our policy allows.
Your credit line as of the date of this letter is $7500.
If we may be of further assitance, please feel free to contact us.
Sincerely,
GE CAPITAL RETAIL BANK
1-800-542-0800
Usually when they tell you it's too soon, they say "you have not had enough time at this current limit". Is this GE's way of saying I have hit the cap? Is it my personal cap, or what the company allows? Anyone else ever receive this reasoning, and know what it means exactly?
Thanks all
I know for a fact my mom has a JCP with a 10k limit...so I don't know about it being a company limit.

Yeah, there's another member on this forum that had one with a 10k limit. I don't remember seeing anything higher, so I know it's definitely something I can reach for. Good to know, thank you!

With JC Pennys having their issues, they might be lowering the maximum that could be achieved. I went into one of their stores about a month ago, & I honestly do not know how anyone can spend $7,500. :-).
On a serious note, maybe you can call them and ask for a recon and say that you're looking to furnish a new house. A little white lie does not hurt sometimes
Haha I have to agree, spending $7.5k is difficult! Or just a lot of furniture...
Will consider calling them in few months or so, thank you!

By their wording it seems the amount of the jump exceeded their policy, not necessarily the desired CL. What amount did you request?
I actually did not request a certain amount...I did the CLI increase online, in which it only asks for annual income and spits out a qualifed increase for you. That's why I am a little confused on the wording, since I did not ask for a particular limit!
Iff your utilization on your card is less than 10% on average why bother asking for a CLI.?
Interesting thread, as I am in the same situation as you, I have the same cl with my jcpenny 7,500 i ask for a cli last month using the online form was denied and received the same exact letter for the reason of the denial. Maybe using the online method is how much jcpenny will allow, just like with lowe's the online method will only go as far as 10,000.
