HAHA!!! No, seriously! I would! I am very good at paying off "same as cash" credit. I would not jeapordize my credit like that. that's why I am asking all these questions Smiley Wink

OP, you could start a 'tax refund' event - buying each other a 'gift' with the refund or something for the house or even taking a trip with it.  Would be a new 'family tradition'.
 
BTW, the IRS does not pay interest - but you do if you owe them -- so maybe adjust the W-4 after you buy the house to keep it in your pocket not theirs.

How about adjusting the W-4 right now? Then you will have cash to buy the ring or invest in the house fund immediately.
