Re: Juniper CC

Swiss,

I have had that Applied Card since 05/2005 and I am concerned that if I close it, it will cut short my credit history.  That will be 3 years in May this year.  Maybe I will just pay if off and not use it.

How long before you can ask for CLI or is it automatic?  I haven't had any problems with them yet, but then I just make payments, I don't make any purchases.

I went from 2k to 3k at the one year mark.  It was automatic (and the card was PIF) when they gave me the increase.

Re: Juniper CC

I have had my plat. MC with them for 2.5 years. I got a CL after 6 months of opening and then nothing else again since then. I pay in full and request CLI but it is all automatic on this type of card. The card is currently PIF, so I applied for a new Juniper card yesterday (The Apple Visa). I wasn't automatically approved and got the pending message. Since I had the customer care number, I called to check the app. and it is still processing as of this morning. Does anybody know if this means that I'm still in the game or if it's just an eventual decline. My payment history and usage with them have been flawless. I had no other hards on my TU and my utility is pretty good right know. Wish me luck!!!!

Current:
TU (5/14/14): 796 (Inquiries; 8/23/13)
EQ (3/23/14): 791 (Inquiries: 8/23/13)
EX (9/24/13): 780 (Inquiries: 7/2/12; 11/20/12; 7/30/13; 8/23/13)

Goals: No new inquiries for 2014, 800 for all CRs by 12/31/14

Re: Juniper CC

lol Rom, I have a Plat MC with them that they will never increase the balance on so I apped for the Juniper Visa w/ I-tunes rewards. Since I have access to customer service b/c of this card I've been periodically calling and bothering them about the status of my application. I have no idea what takes so long to process. Since I opened the first card in the fall of 2005, my scores have risen over 200 points. I've never missed a payment, the card is paid in full and the percentage of my credit that is used has decreased significantly. I have no idea what there is to review.

Current:
TU (5/14/14): 796 (Inquiries; 8/23/13)
EQ (3/23/14): 791 (Inquiries: 8/23/13)
EX (9/24/13): 780 (Inquiries: 7/2/12; 11/20/12; 7/30/13; 8/23/13)

Goals: No new inquiries for 2014, 800 for all CRs by 12/31/14

Re: Juniper CC

Just thought I'd add this, in regards to the "automatic" CLI's that Juniper says it does. I've had since 10/05 and there has been only one soft pull on my credit report in the past two years by Juniper. Only one and that was in 2/08. I'm not sure where their computers get the information for the reviews, but it certainly isn't from our credit reports or payment histories.

Maybe from their internal payment history records? In other words, how much do you use the card, do you PIF, and so on.

I have the same card as Mrs. MV, but I have a deeply humorous $500. The CSR told me that it was because I already have plenty of unused credit, which might well be true. The plan is to charge between $250-300/ month on it (and PIF before statement date) for 6 months, see if anything happens, and do the same for another 6 months.

If they want to turn it into a real card at that point, then I'll keep it. Otherwise, I will have bought lots of stuff from B&N for a year, and I'll let the card go. I don't want to have a $500 CL showing on my reports at this point in my credit life, especially if it's not a store card.

Re: Juniper CC

I have a Juniper iTunes Reward Card and when I called to ask for a CLI, they told me they do not take requests over the phone, but you can request a lower APR.  I am not sure what they look at either, but they do a soft pull every month on me and I have been flawless with them and every other company and I still have not received a CLI.

In fact, when I was initially approved for the card in December 2006, I had a CL of $2,000.  They lowered it to $1,300 in March 2007 claiming I had too much new debt, but the only new debt was their card.  I only owe $300 on it, so after I have paid it off, I'm throwing it in a sock drawer and may take it out every 6 months to make a purchase.

Re: Juniper CC

I have been told that Juniper has a limit on the number of cards they will give you (two max, one preferred)
The slide from grace is really more like gliding
And I've found the trick is not to stop the sliding
But to find a graceful way of staying slid

Re: Juniper CC

I received my decision on the I-Tunes Visa this afternoon and they denied me credit due to the fact that I have sufficient funds on my Juniper MC (it's paid in full just like every other month for the past 2.5 years). I immediately called customer service and asked for the credit department. I got a very helpful gentleman who explained to me that they couldn't give me another cc due to the fact that since my bk in 2003, they were my highest CL. He went over my CR with me and then upon noticing that I had a flawless history with them, told me that I could do a product change for the Visa and transfer my available credit to the new product. I was very thankful that he was able to work with me on this and he even left my old MC account open with a 500.00 limit so it could continue to report on my CR. He also explained that in my case my lack of CLI's was due to the fact that Juni was my highest CL. I recently got increases on 3 of my other cards that will put me over the 2200 mark, so when they report I should be eligable for the increase.
