Citi is not for everyone. I also regret getting a Citi secured card.
Biggest regret was starting with a $300 toy limit. Citi will never allow YOU to increase that limit. They will not accept additional deposits. My card unsecured in 18 months. I received a check in the mail. No problem. But my CL did not increase. My scores are also low 700 recently (up from 660-680 which was a consistent range for over 12 months). My account has crossed the 2 year mark and still no CLI. No lates, no returned payments, no collections, never a BK, PIF and low utilization for last 6 months. It's no mystery. Citi told me the reason -- Too many accounts opened in the last 2 years. But ALL of my other cards have grown substantially so .....
So I dug a hole and buried the Citi card in the backyard. YMMV
