Hi all,
I just applied, and was approved for, a Chase Freedom card! Problem is, I also want the Chase Sapphire Preferred. I don't want to go "app-crazy" especially since both cards are from Chase. I'm wondering how long I should wait to apply. I'm happy to sit in the garden for awhile and use my cards responsibly - this is the last card on my wish list so I want to make sure I do the right things to get it.
My other cards and limits are as follows:
Chase Freedom, juuuuuust opened - $17,000
AmEx Blue Cash Preferred, opened one year ago - $18,000
Victoria's Secret - $1,300
J. Crew - $2,170
Express - $1,380
The Limited - $1,400
CareCredit - $4,100
EQ FICO - 701 as of 5/23
TU score - 826 as of 5/23 (from transunion.com, not sure if that's FICO or?)
EXP VantageScore - 746 as of 5/23
AAoA - 5 years
Thanks for your input!
OT but nice limit on your J. Crew card! How long have you had it???
It seems like you would have no problem getting an approval for the CSP, though you may need to call in since you just got the Freedom card.

Opened in June 2009! Until a few weeks ago, my limit was $1,670, but after getting approved for my 3x CLI on AmEx, I got ballsy and started pressing the "Request Increase" button on my other cards...and got pretty lucky!
I would suggest waiting 3 or 4 months so Chase can see how you use your Freedom. I think that you might get approved if you applied now, but you'd have a better shot and get a better limit if you waited.

Nice. I just hit the button on my account again and got another $200...I did it now since it's gonna report on the 1st...lol. Yay! I'm at $850.00.

I got mine after 9 months with the Freedom. At 5 months, I got auto-cli from them on my Freedom.
With your profile, I think you can GET IT NOW!.
You csp WILL be approved NOW!
I bet it will be instantly, worst case, if you get 7 days pending message, just call to recon, move some credit line from freedom.
You have nothing to worry about!
You will most likely be approved if you app right now. There is no hard and fast rule as far as when to apply with Chase. I got my Freedom last June 6/12, and append and was approved for CSP maybe a week later (they even used the same HP for both cards). I would't think they would deny you if you got that limit on a Freedom.
