I would get:

$5000 x 5% = $250

$15,000 x 1% = $150

So $400 - $95 = $305 bonus which is still sweet.

Are you sure you'd really want to put $15k of spend on that card at a mere 1%?

Nice.  Is Mission Lane next?

Yep, probably in a couple months, and Ollo a couple months after that.  I'm going to try to tuck closures amongst SP CLIs across other accounts so that the closures don't really impact my TCL and utilization.

May I ask what's bad about Credit One? I actually like their card with 5% cashback that would earn over $300 in bonus even with $95 annual fee.

I mean, they aren't *bad*... their products serve a segment of the population that really needs them during a time of building or re-building credit.  I certainly needed them coming out of my BK7, and at that time, getting a $2000 SL was tremendously helpful.  There are aspects of some of their products that some may view as predatory, and to an extent they are, but compared to some of the other lenders working the same segment, they are not quite as bad as the common reputation suggests.

A flat 2% no annual fee card gets you $400

What does 0% get me cause that's all I got until my 3% secured card arrives.

Bread AMEX:

No AF

2% flat, no minimum

That same $20,000 of spend x 2% = $400

...and that's just one example.

As Credit One goes, that card isn't bad for someone who is willing to spend heavily on it. But there are far better cards out there. That's all some of us are saying. Smiley Happy

In my wallet: Apple $5,000, local CU $15,000, Bread AMEX $5,000. In my sock drawer: A few other cards Smiley Happy

The Credit One Visa Platinum, with its $8.25 monthly fee and its no interest grace period on purchases, had served me well for three years after emerging from my Chapter 7 discharge.  But, as these things go in the credit world, I built up my portfolio to bigger and badder cards, and now I'm past the point at which this card is worth keeping around (some might say I'm *well past* that point!).  So I called up Credit One to cancel the card.  The account specialist made a feeble attempt to keep me on by offering to waive 6 months of the annual fee -- **SO TEMPTING Smiley LOL ** -- but I stuck to my guns, and she went ahead and closed out the account.

I've got a few other small-time revolvers on deck for cancellation throughout this year, but this one HAD to go because I just couldn't justify the monthly fees a moment longer.  So long, Credit One!  Bon voyage!  Sayonara!

Congratulations.  A milestone!

They're considered a predatory lender for rebuilders. Ironically, their best terms would put many of the most desired comparable cards on here to shame.

I don't disagree with their image... but the Credit One Wander card I opened last year has no AF.  None of my cards do... including Mission Lane.

They don't have rewards either (Wander gives travel related points but I don't use it enough to care) but they were fine for what I got them for... getting the rebuild started early and they've served their purpose in opening doors to better cards.  They are sock drawered (along with Ollo) but since there is no AF I don't really see a point in closing them for the time being.
