I'm just starting out with my credit. What are good companies to apply for credit cards that will issue credit to people like me.
I've never had credit cards or loans.

Welcome. Many people here, including myself, have relationships with a local credit union. Perhaps that would be a good place for you to start.
From a BK years ago to:
7/09 TU-742 EQ- 779
8/09 TU-765 EQ- 783
9/09 EX pulled by lender 802
You can do the same thing with hard work.
Citi Bank I believe will issue to no credit poeple
USbank has a young adults card that I believe is directed at no credit people
You might also want to consider store cards. My first card was JCPenney.
Or go for a secured credit card. I might get boo-ed but that's how I started almost a year ago, and just yesterday, I applied for a Discover card and was instantly approved.
The way secured cards work seems a bit like a scam (or at least, that was how I felt). But then, thanks to that, I got a car loan 6 months later with a not so bad APR.
There are some banks that let you open a secured credit card with as little as $300. The only thing I still complain about this scheme is that (at least my bank), they didn't give me any interest (anyhow, 0.25% APY of $1000 wouldn't yield much either).
Do you have a checking and or savings account. I'd start there.
If not, I'd open a checking account at a bank or credit union that has secured credit card or student credit card first.
