LOC increase at amex - hard or soft inquiry?

Just contacted the CBR unit at Amex and was advised that a LOC increase will more than likely show up as a hard inquiry because you are applying for more credit.  Systematic increase in LOC will not show up as a LOC increase.  But watch those luv buttons or you'll end up with a F/R! lol

Are we talking about a CLI on a personal CC? If yes, Amex will not hard you. I have never been harded by Amex and I have done numerous CLIs.
