Re: Largest single transaction done in your LIFE

It's taken me a while to establish credit (long story).

Not MY card...  But for my dad's bday a few years ago I charged a very large exec suite and two additional rooms to his card for several nights in Vegas (4 nights IIRC, peak season Th-Sun) for just under $10k.  One of my brother's and I split the bill and paid dad back a few weeks later.  We gave dad the suite obviously since it was his BDay, my brother and his wife had one room and I had the other.  Part of that tab (but not a huge part) was two dinner parties I threw in the suite for about 15 people, each tab was around $500 I think.  I think there were a lot of other things we may have charged to the rooms too.  Dad did have one of the BEST weekends of his life.  So to me it was $5k well spent.

On my cards...  A billion (or 14) years ago my exhusband and I moved into a new rental house and needed a washer, dryer, refrigerator, and storage freezer.  I think the total was around $4,500.  Since I separated from my ex... Just this month I charged $2k for a CPA retainer fee to sort through and represent me for some tax issues.

Re: Largest single transaction done in your LIFE

As a young (and foolish), college student I bought a few computers ($2,xxx)... But, the largest CC transaction of my more recent life has been my lawn mower. I paid right at $1,500 for it and took advantage of 18 months @ O%.

Re: Largest single transaction done in your LIFE

Whew...just the other day....$25,000 on a brand new Lowe's card. Got $1250 off my purchase on the 5% thing. Don't even have the card yet and headed in to pay it off before any interest kicks in. Insteresting though, the balance reported about two days after my purchase which may also end up helping me out. My CR says this card reports the highest balance is credit limit so had I not done that maybe the entire credit limit would not have reported. Either way, kinda scary and kinda exciting all at the same time.

Re: Largest single transaction done in your LIFE

Car repairs - $3.5 k. That stung a little bit. PIF'd soon after though.

Before that, my biggest expense at one time was $900 for a tattoo I had done on my ribs. That was funded by work bonuses and a couple months of saving Smiley Tongue

Eli Broad retains the record for the largest reported credit card transaction of all time. He chronicled his 1995 decision to purchase a $2.5 million Roy Lichtenstein painting with an American Express card in his memoir, "The Art of Being Unreasonable."

Hey!!!! I do that ALL the time!  Buy postcards or prints of photos or paintings that I LOVE and frame them.  I have a great Orca postcard on my desk at work that everyone thinks I took the photo.  I am very open that it's a post card from a trip to Vancouver.
