@Anonymous wrote:PRG Amex is a good card. It is nice when you get offered the Pay Over Time feature in case you wanted to use the card as a Revolver. However it does not impact your utilization in regards to your credit profile. Solid card, decent AF for what the card and AMEX offer. SIgn up bonus is worthy too.
Have you tried Capital One prequal?
Okay pulled the trigger and PRG Amex is saying they'll send me a decision in 14 days..? Capitol One prequal came back with Cap One Platinum only
No worries, that is a typical response, it just means someone is going to look at it. The good thing about charge cards is the limit is flexible, meaning if they think you are moderate risk they can still approve you but they just wont let you spend a ton on it. If you are denied there is reconsidation lines you can call and most people have a high success rate with that even. Good luck! Keep us posted.
Capital One doesnt even know what they want for customers, shrug that right off.
Thank you for the encouraging info! I'll be sure to update when I hear back from AMEX. (LOL! on the Cap One comment)
@Anonymous wrote:14 days is usually good news. Check their status page
There's a status page? (I'm definitely a noob when it comes to applying). Will try to find and check in a day or two...
@Anonymous wrote:My favorites are Citi Double Cash and BofA Cash rewards.
Citi Double cash earns 2% back = 1% on spend + 1% on payments. Terrific card, usually gets World Elite Mastercard status with good credit. Only bummer to the card it is Citi; usually conservative with limits and limit increases.
Bank of America Cash rewards card is also excellent. It hs a few good categories that you cant find anywhere else. 3% on gas, 2% on grocery and wholesale and 1% on everything else. Not a bad deal at all. My card started with a 5000 dollar limit and in 3 months I took a HP and was bumped to 10100 and then another 3 months in i took another HP and now its 17200. Wicked grower with moderate use and large payments. HPs are TU.
Even with all that I would recommend Citi Double Cash first. But BofA solid second. I use both very frequently. After that AMEX BCP.
Good Luck!
I check the pre-qual for Citi and they didn't return anything Will look into the BofA card, but I have the feeling I may be too "small beans" for them.
Really should check amex status asap and call recon if denied. 14 day message usually means they are doing a manual review, they might need additional information or verification
and yeah just google up Amex application status. Id link it here, but it doesnt seem to copy correctly

What about MC Gold Card?
I honestly don't think I have the credit profile for that one - maybe one day...

Just checked: says check back in 24 hours. Why does waiting this make one nervous as all get-out?? Nobody needs to be this jittery on a Friday night!

That is definitely a manual review.
