@AverageJoesCredit wrote:Man sorry @Jnbmom im not a fan of just closing a card because of low usage, 2 years sure close away, but dang if you arent late or running mad balance, let your client be. But at the end its their card. As sad as it is, just let you use another lenders card so shame on them for possibly losing a customer
Yes the card just turned a year old 4/2020. I think I used it once when I first got, so yes no usage in about over a year , but oh well it is what it is........................................

@K-in-Boston wrote:Sorry to hear about the other account. For the one still open, are you on the right Lowe's card page? My card is also 14 digits (Lowe's Visa Rewards card is 16, Lowe's Amex would be 15). The one for Synchrony is here and asks for card number and ZIP Code, rather than DOB:

Thanks I had him call, I know reps are working from home but this sounded like the person was on the freeway LOL.
Anyway got account restored, our last payment was in February 2020, so that's why he is still active thank goodness. Mine hasn't been used in over a year. Funny I went to lowes last week to purchase a shower head and "thought" I used my card, but I am an AU on his and that's the card I apparently used . Oh well probably would have not worked since they stated my card was close b/c of inactivity on 5/9/20.
Use your cards peeps or they will shut you down............................................
Sorry @Jnbmom
.. killing me to read all this![]()
Last week I ordered online (2) 5 gallon buckets and a pack of Gardening gloves.
Gotta lot of "Gardening" to do![]()
I know my Home Depot hasnt been used in well over a year. Im just too lazy to go there. Would i love to use the card online to show usage? Dang right i would but lol, i cant even order online as they wont even ship here to PR
. Dumbies
but at least i KNOW it can be closed at any day.

Well it sounds like the card is basically useless to you anyway outside of maybe some padding, so if they close it, no big deal.
I think simply keeping a card active may not be enough anymore with some banks. They want to see real sustained usage of the credit lines, and if they aren't seeing it, CLDs happen eventually.

Yes exactly, it was for mainly padding and even though I am still good, I don't want to lose a ton more if you know what I mean.
I agree I think lenders want to see some sustained usage and maybe more so now.....................................
Sorry that this has to you. Thank you for the advice.
Sorry to see that you lost the card. I know you had been concerned that it would happen. ![]()

Synchrony is going on the run. Apparently May 22nd was my day for closure - Lowe's, Gap, CarCareOne, and Lumber Liquidators were all closed. I received a credit report notification for Lumber Liquidators, and started looking at the others, which I'd looked at within the last week. My last payment on Lowe's was June 21st, and it's apalling that during a time when people in many areas have been shelter-in-place for over two months, that Synchrony would start closing down private-lavel cards.
At one point when I was rebuilding, the Lowe's card helped raise my available credit. I'd gotten to the point though where the account was aging, and more importantly, Lowe's offers a 5% discount when using the private-label card, and sometimes even more. I could probably re-apply, and likely get approved again, but why bother? It's easier to just go buy elsewhere since the private label credit card perks are being taken away on a whim by Synchrony.
If I understand, you got a Lowe's store card for a one-time purchase, just over a year ago, then requested CLI to, eventually, $35k, but no swipes since it was opened? And that store card is part of your "utilization padding"?
How much of the rest of your "utilization padding" is in store cards? Including possible AU versions.
And what, really, is the FICO score value of "utilization padding" for your file?

I got lowes, I didn't plan on a "one time" purchase, it just happened that way and we used dh's card more , the limit grew really quick.
Yes it helped my utilization in the beginning, of course now I have high lines with my other creditors. No I don't need the padding , haven't really needed it in quite some time. I have Navy , PF and quite a few other CU's and chase, discover, amex, USSA etc. So yes of course I don't need the padding with lowes, but last year I didn't have the lines at where they are today and we had some plans for the house and I wanted a higher limit so to not have a high individual utlization on a card. Not to mention Lowes offers 5% and long term 0% interest, hard to beat but plans changed and remodeling is on hold for awhile. But I should have mentioned that, I certainly don't need the padding from lowes.
I guess once you build up you hate to lose some, but as I stated it was not surprising, but I am going to miss that card just the same.
I don't have many store cards at all, now even less. Only stores are Amazon and Carecredit.
