MACYS Store to Amex possible?

Hello, I have seen a few of these but not sure how to be successful.  I have had my Macys store card since 27-Jul-2012.  Started at 300.00$ CL.  I am up to 4900 CL, with a 1000 balance.  WHen is it a good timme to ask for the Amex?  I just dont get how to approach this?

You can ask at any time after your account has been open for 6 months.   You can call in or use the chat feature online.   I had success with chat.

I just tried and this is what I got via chat:

Good luck on the upgrade to the Amex! You picked a great time, because in February they review the accounts for status changes, if you've spent more than $1,000 you'll get nice rewards on the Amex/Macys. If you get the upgrade after their review, you'll get the Amex, but can't get upgraded to higher tiers until the next February.

thank you.  I just finished chat...I also said..." so i guess this means declined.  He stated " No, this doesnt mean decline". Maybe its approved... LOL

Do they hard pull you when you requested this? I am thinking of trying it out but don't want to do it if it's a hard pull

For all my credit limit increases there has been no hard pull even though they say we need to review your credit. They stayed again we need to review your credit but they never disclosed if it was hard or soft

IIRC, most requests typically end up being SP.  However, as with anything, it's a YEMV situation.  There have been some threads (not many) where folks reported HP.

From what I read in a previous post, it does take 30 days to get a decision. So you wont know until about that time if you were declined or approved. Keep checking your Macy's accont to see if it shows up.
