This morning according to DansDeals, Amex added Avianca LifeMiles as a MR airline transfer partner without any announcement. The MR to LifeMiles transfer ratio 1:1. Now you can pool Citi TYP and MR points to book flight on Star Alliance partners without fuel surcharge.

This is some great news!
Hopefully can use this for my honeymoon instead of booking on ANA and paying YQ plus the miles needed is lower.
Yeah, no more fuel surcharge on Star Alliance award ticket. Their award chart looks pretty good too.

Once I registered and started messing around with the award system. It’s almost double the cost of ANA for US-Asia routes.
No fuel surcharges are nice but i’d rather pay $300 then another 70K+ in miles
Well that stinks there aren’t really any good options for trips to Asia other than ANA with MR.
When I was using the booking system for about an hour earlier today. It was very streamlined and easy to use. It's just the amount of points needed to fly to Asia I was concerned about. I'm looking at roughly 105K with ANA per ticket. Avianca wants 156K per ticket to fly the exact same route as ANA. No YQ though. There was a decent amount of award availability in J.
I even saw some nice First Class awards, 210K First Class to asia round trip. I dont have quite enough for that though for 2 people.
Avianca you can book One-way as opposed to ANA RT.

How easy would it be to book United this way? MR or TYP to Avianca then book United?
