MSUFCU Cards

As I go through the process of trying to find a card that will give me a $5000 CL to vet myself for the CSP, I came across MSUFCU's cards (I would qualify under Oakland University Credit Union which is pretty much MSUFCU with a different name). The cards seem pretty awful but I wanted to see what everyone thought of the cards.

Re: MSUFCU Cards

I'd suggest sticking with your Apple and Venmo cards and trying to CLI them up, rather than a new card that'll take up a 5/24 slot

I have no experience with either card but those offerings and benefits seem "really really similar" and would make me think there's perhaps cobranded from a different issuer like Elan...and they employ the same web developer!  I tried to find that on their page but couldn't

Re: MSUFCU Cards

I've had the Platinum since I was in college.  I don't even think they had the rewards cards back then.  I definitely wouldn't apply for it now, but it has helped me get better cards.  It is currently my oldest open revolver (almost 13 years old).

As far as the CSP, you don't need to have cards at the minimum starting limit to get approved.  I was instantly approved (after receiving the offer in my Chase account) for a $9k SL in August 2019.  At that time, the MSUFCU Visa was my highest limit at $3,500.

I see you also have a Chase Freedom Unlimited.  I opened mine in mid-2018 (June?) at $1,700 SL.  Back then I used it for almost everything and PIF each month, and by December, Chase doubled the limit to $3,400.  These days it is still my daily driver unless I have a category spend on it.  Still love the URs.
