Macys is usually a soft pull. I just requested a CLI and it was a soft pull.
usually if you charge something small once every three months to show its active.
i also started at 100 lmit. then when they posted on my statement the limit was 2k. (that was in may) then i asked for the cli in july.
ive only put a mock neck (day i opened card) 17.00
6 Black Bath Towels(6 months Later) 47.00
Men's Cologne (1 year after that) 89.00
today nothing on the card since august.
plan on purchasing something right before black friday or on that day.

Macy's slashed my CL to $100 also, I called and was told it was due to non activity, I really used it only during xmas, that gave me a reason to go ahead and close my account, I really no longer needed the card anyway, the rep made me an offer to keep me but wasn't going to give me back the $4000 CL that I had, so it was bye bye to Macys
They would re-open my account with a $2000 CL, I didn't even bother to ask if it would be a soft or hard pull, if they weren't talking about giving my $4000 CL back, there was no point..This was one of the first cards I got back in 2009 when I was trying to get my credit back on track, it definitely helped towards me getting my score up and getting better cards, and I liked it since I shopped at Macy's fairly often before I got the card, but it out lived its usefulness and once my CL was slashed, that just gave the reason to go ahead and slash them..

I didn't know Macy's could slash your CL for not using the card! I barely use mine as it is!! Wow!!!
Neither did I, but I looked at it as a sign, it was time to part..Sometimes good relationships have to to come to an I figure I'll just use one of my other cards when I shop there again, at least I'll get some points or rewards from it...
