Yeah, don't get me started. Native Chicagoan here and still PO'd about the fact that Marshall Fields is no more. Macy's on State Street? C'mon.

Store holding company several years ago. In my area they just changed the name from Foley's to Macy's within the last year or so.
My wife is a huge Macys fan and has had a department card for over 10 year and is considered a Premiere Customer. About two years ago, she was upgraded to a Macys Platinum Visa card without asking. The strange thing is it comes with two bills, a department store account, and a visa account. Well last August after changing jobs and a new baby, I was tasked with paying the bills including the Macys. I grabbed the Macys bill and paid it not realizing there is ALSO a Macy’s visa bill separate. To make matters worse, the next month I get a bill from Macys Visa saying they need a payment and I paid it immediately. Thinking the Macys bill is paid, the store account did not get paid. Finally the third month I realize, one card= two separate bills. So now wiser on this craziness, I haven't missed a beat. We recently sent a GW letter to Macys asking to remove the late payment off our CR since we are good customers that got tripped up in their crazy billing. The Visa side said no and they reported it accurately. The Store Credit side said sure, we value as a customer. Now, today we logged into the Macys page and it said the Visa side is closed. When my wife called, they said it was the CA's fault because my wife has a low credit score. And since the credit score is low, they have closed out account! So in 10 years, 1 missed payment (8 months ago) and they closed out card based on my wife’s score! (In the mid 600) We sent a GW as a way of improving her score, and now they made it worse by closing the account. She has made all but one payment in 10 years, pays way over the minimum balance (first time even carrying a balance this year). She has no collections, bankruptcies, judgments, or liens. Her scores are between 640 and 650 because of high balances on two cards and 3 missed payments in July. Has anyone heard of a card grantor closing the account because of a credit score being low and not because of defaulting? Any advice on how to rectify this?
