I bought a cell phone while in Taiwan for $300ish on 01/07/13. It stayed pending up until yesterday. I checked today and the transaction has completely dispeared. This is really weird. Any explanations to this?
Also I found it weird that the merchant that charged me was named "refer to NCCC" or something and didn't have a company name.
Oh that has happened to me but it comes back after as posted a few days later....typically charges stay pending until the merchant processes it. Quite the norm for me in fact...
My understanding is that merchants have 60 days to post actual charges. But that pending charges can only stay there about a week.
I would expect the actual charge to post soon.
Just to update: no charges have come back pending nor posted.

I would say that's normal. The merchant didn't post the transaction after the preauthorization, so the credit card company removed it after the window closed. The merchant could then re-post the transaction to your card later. This happened to me when I bought a computer - they preauthorize but charge only after they ship. They shipped much later and the original "pending" charge had disappeared by then. They put it on again.
You'll pay - don't worry ;-)
I still have a pending charge from a restaurant in Glenwood Springs, CO, from August. It shows up in Mint as never being fully processed. We stopped at a burger joint on the way home from 3 days in the Maroon Bells Wilderness. Free lunch!
Alright, they took the money. Was kinda hoping they forgot...
