So I don't even have a score yet and already got a Cap1 offer in the mail. It says pre approved. Does that mean they actually want to give me a card or are just trying to get me to apply (in which case I'd probably be denied for not having a score yet). And on top of that, would I probably be better off just waiting for offers for cards from a company I'd like a card from, lol.

What type of Cap1 card is it? secured or unsecured?
Unsecured thankfully. I think it was just their baseline Platinum card. I really don't want another card with an AF though, but I also really want to get into the market for unsecured lol.

Did you try the pre qualification site before you recieved the offer. The reason I asked is I did the pre qualification site and they offered the annual fee I didn't apply. A month later I got the pre approval offer used the code and was approved. YMMV

Your mileage may very but at the time I never thought I had a chance. I recieved a pre approval for the no annual fee. It was with a limit of $300 and I was approved.
edit: if you apply please keep us updated Good Luck!

It's now my Quicksilver, product changed from platinum it was my first card in my rebuilding. Three years ago.
Now you're tempting me to look closer at the offer and see if it is no AF and i just misread. lol. Quicksilver would be an appealing future card
