I was wondering how Chase tracks or determines the number of allowable CCs per customer.. For instance, I have CSP with a 25k CL and a Chase Amazon Rewards with a 7k CL.. I'm concerned I'll get flagged or denied if I were to app for the Chase United Milelage Plus Explr Card... Does anyone know what the card limit is for Chase? I'm just trying to avoid any AA.  My current balance on my Amazon card is $0 and I'm sitting at $2,700 on the CSP after making a $7,800 payment this week. I normally carry a balance of around 3k on that card each month. Thanks a lot..

I'm not familiar with any limits on the number of cards you can have with Chase. I scored number 7 a few days ago with the 50k United Mileage Plus offer. Clearly, Chase does not mind me having more than half of their entire product offerings. The exposure limit they have allotted to you is divided amongst the number of Chase cards that you have. If your credit report and income allow, Chase may increase that limit over time for additional cards or CLIs. I always prefer the former because the bonuses Chase has are very enticing.

I eventually plan on closing my Amazon, Slate, and Marriott cards. I have the Ritz, British Airways, and IHG cards still on my want list.

The Chase Amazon is a card I should've never really had from the get-go. I got it several years ago...at the same time I got the Citi Forward, which made it quite redundant. As for the Marriott, I just have a preference for Hyatt properties. Additionally, the Hyatt card has a lower AF while still offering a free annual night. Yeah the metal core of the Marriott card is nice, but the point value is absolutely atrocious. At least with the Hyatt card I can save a few bucks on the AF over the Marriott's.

Re: Max Number Of Chase Cards

I'm amazed so. Many cards with same lenders. 12 with chase and citi alone if either shut you down. You will be in world of hurt. But hey I guess you like em.

Re: Max Number Of Chase Cards

I most certainly wouldn't be in a world of hurt. It's really no different than someone having 1 or 2 cards with either of them with a 50-60k limit. Would he or she be in any less trouble if their cards were shut down? I've tried many lenders over the years, and Citi and Chase are the banks I prefer to do business with. American Express rounds out my top 3. My exposure with American Express is even higher than Citi and Chase. Should I lose sleep over them too if they were to close my accounts? Circumstances are what they are, and I find value in the cards that I have with those two banks.

Re: Max Number Of Chase Cards

Never said you did not need nor value your cards. Not even close. Point being. That's a lot with any 1 lender. Agreed.money amount same. If 50k on 1 card or 50k on 10. Just knowing how sensitive some lenders are was point. Not your person needs or relationships. All 3 excellent lenders. Amex. Chase and citi. And I'm sure value in each card.

Re: Max Number Of Chase Cards

I'm probably the biggest Chase fangirl around but I can't justify an annual fee on every single card. But they have the best cards and best bonuses.
