I have 4 Comenity cards since October of 2013. All 4 cards were opened just 2 months after my chapter 7 BK was discharged. I have kept track of all my CLI's and all of them have been via the "luv button" online. The first CLI on each card was approved after my 6th statement cut, and since then, I have had a $400 increase ($200 at a time) every 3 months, by requesting a CLI twice each time, and on the third try I receive the 7-10 day notice and no additional increase. The only exception to this is at 3 months, the JCrew card gave me the standard Comenity Bank $400 increase in $200 increments, but 3 months later, I tried again and was floored when they allowed me to increase from $250 to $4250 all in one day, in $200 increments until I reached $4250, and then again at 12 months (today) I decided to try again after reading this post and went from $4250 to $8250 in $200 incremements online using the luv button. I have used the JCrew card once for $37.50.
I can't believe I have such a high credit line with JCrew, my fat behind cannot even fit into any of their clothes! LOL. I buy for my husband.
Here are my Comenity increases:
Woman Within - Started at $250, Currently $2250 via $400 increases every 3 months after the first 6 months.
Roamans - Started at $250, Currently $2250 via $400 increases every 3 months after the first 6 months.
HSN - Started at $750, Currently $2750 via $400 increases every 3 months after the first 6 months.
JCrew - Started at $250, Currently $8250 via $4000 increases in $200 increments every 6 months.
@Anonymous wrote:That's an incorrect statement. overall utilization and singular utilization are both important. I would argue that having 5% overall utilization is significantly more important than having 80% utilization on one card.
If you have 10,000 in limits, and add a 10,000 card, which is really what we are talking about here with Comenity (barney's, blue nile, etc.) your 50% overall utilization with 5000 in balances, drops to 25% in overall utilization.
That is a monstrous effect.
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼. You are absolutely CORRECT. And lower utilization will bump your score, thusly opening up more opportunities! Thanks for breaking it down!!!!

VS and EX used to be you had to wait 9 months or so to get a CLI. I dont have those cards. I do have J crew card. Opened a year ago with a $500.00 CL, immediately raised to $800.00. Now its at $18,000.00. I use the card once a month. If I added all my spend on that card from the past year i have spent a couple thousand.
YESSSSSSS18,000 J. Crew!!!!!! I now see even more potential with J. crew. WTG! Thanks for sharing!
Does anyone know how soon again you can successfully hit the Luv button after you get the 7-10 day notice?
On here and other threads I've read two answers -- A) once every 3 months and B) once every 30 days. Which one is right? Also has anyone tried it any sooner and got another CLI bump?
Thanks in advance.

While I'm relatively new to Comenity, I have gotten an increase after 31 days of issuance of the credit card, J. Crew and Overstock. I found it more effective to call the automated line and say no to the question of do you have a specific CLI amount. The only time that I have been successful with the Luv button was when I initially opened the account. Now I must say, I have purchased items from Motorola. HSN, Victoria Secrets and when I have requested an increase, it was declined. So even when you use the account, it doesn't mean that you will get an increase. Some of the companies will wait for a few months before considering a CLI. Ali got the 7 to 10 day message with J.Crew because I had calculated the 31 day increase an 2 days later I request and received the increase.
I'll have to try the call in automated line next time as it sounds like it gets a better more instant CLI without having to press the Luv button repeatedly. Thanks for the tip.
But I'm still not sure how long I have to wait to do that. I've had each card for over year and just a last week for the first time I kept hitting the luv button until I got the 7-10 days notice and received the notice in the mail 2 days ago. I should have started doing the luv button months ago. So I'm eager to get those CLIs.
So when can I do it all over again? ![]()
I called the automated lady before I even received the 7 to 10 day ding letter and got an increase, so you can call when ever you like. You may or may not get an increase, but call if you want. how long have you had the card?
~1 year on each.
VS = started $1000, no spend, 1st luv doing button bump to $1400 (last week, stopped when hit 7-10 day notice)
Jcrew = started $300, no spend, 1st time doing luv button bump to $4800 (last week, stopped when hit 7-10 day notice)
Sportsman = started $2000, maxed to ~$1900, now pif, 1st time doing luv button bump to $3200 (last week, stopped when hit 7-10 day notice)
I should have started doing the CLI requests 6+ months ago. So that is why I am so eager to make up lost time as soon as I can ![]()
