My Disco Journey w/ data points

Greetings All

I decided to write a journal of my Discover It journey after reviewing several posts that were able to help me along the way by comparing my similiar scores with those that had been approved. Approximately 7 years ago I had been recently divorced, destroying my credit and didn't care. I had a vehicle reposessed and had burned Discover for about $6,500, none of this  which I was very proud of. A year and a half ago I decided it was time to put my big boy pants on and start the rebuilding process. Since then I have been approved for 2 NFCU cards, AMEX and Capital One among several other smaller cards. I recently tried the Discover preapproval site and to my surprise I received a preapproval for the Discover It and Discover Chrome cards when in the past all I had received was the secured card. I pulled the trigger and sure enough I was approved. My plan is to keep a very detailed journal of every click and call I make including monthly spend, balances and CLI requests in the hopes that it can help someone else as it did me.

Discover It

Approved 11/26/18 with a SL of $2,000

Pulled Experian (630)

12 total accounts on file (6 cc's, 5 retail, 1 installment loan)

AAOA 2 years 3 months

Inquiries 8

Utilization 66% (I know it's high, don't judge I'm working on paying it down)

Burned Discover for $6,500, charged off 6/2012. No longer on my report.

Auto loan charge off for $6,710 from 2/2013. Due to fall off report any day now.

No late pays on report

No collections on report (except for auto loan as mentioned above that shows as a closed account)

Received welcome email 12/1/18

Received card in the mail 12/3/18

Called for recon and denied 12/4/18

Statement cut date is 12/9/18

As I said prior, I will continue to update this post monthly with scores and CLI requests. Thanks for taking the time to read and I hope this posts helps others just like the thousands of posts i have read that has helped me along the way!!!!!

Re: My Disco Journey w/ data points

May I asked what happened to the charge off from 2012?

Re: My Disco Journey w/ data points

Thanks for the data! I have a discover chargeoff from 2013 that is supposed to fall off 11/2019. They won't even let me have a secured card due to "the status of my prior discover account." Hopefully when that falls off, they'll let me back in!

Great data point and tracking OP! I do the same, just off line from here in excel worksheets. Nice to see your progress and be able to pat yourself on the back!

Re: My Disco Journey w/ data points

Thank you for your data points, and congrats on the progress of your rebuild. A lot of us made mistakes involving our credit at some point, especially when "life" happens. The important part is what you are doing now....recovering. And you appear to be doing it very well. That is something to be proud of. I wish you continued success in your journey!
