MyGM Rewards Card Application Rules/Requirements

I wanted to reach out and see if any of you fine people knew why I may have continued to be denied for the Marcus GM Mastercard.

I know that Goldman Sachs is looking to get out of the credit card business so that may be impacting their approvals, but the rejection reasons they sent make no sense to me. Are there any unpublished rules on account approval like Chase and Amex have that can prevent approval that they wouldn't tell you? Also, does anyone know if they will reconsider an application via their customer support number? I have heard mixed reviews and wanted to know if it was worth my time to try and call and try to convince them to approve.

My Stats:

Income: 120k

Fico: 801

Hard Inquiries: 1

4+year average age of account

Mortgage for 2+ years

Accounts opened in the last year: 1 auto loan

Accounts opened in the last 2 years: 1 auto loan, 1 credit card

Denial Reasons:

* Too many hard inquiries

* Insuffiecient history on installment loans

* Recently opened too many credit card trades

no hard rules and no recon unfortunately, with goldman underwriting it's just a case of 'we don't like you right now' kinda thing and perhaps in a month when you can apply again and they will change their mind

do you have any negative information on chexsystems or do you have a lot of chexsystems inquires? (do you open a lot of bank accounts?)

Nope. I have opened a couple of accounts this year, but other than that it has been years since doing so.

They are required to give a reason on denials but I don't think there's any requirement for the listed reason(s) to be valid pertaining to your application. In other words, I believe they can list anything they want, even if it really doesn't apply to you.
