Does NASA pull for membership? Who do they pull?
What kind of scores do they look for? Do I have a shot?
Crap. I have something in Chex that is a few years old....
Someone reported that they don't pull Chex anymore...but I wasn't brave enough to risk the pull. Report back if they approve you with the Chex entry.
I was approved for membership, but denied for the credit card. They said I have "excessive available reveolving credit". I guess they are correct depending on how you look at it. They must think like a lot of people do that credit = debt. Or they don't understand the concept of taking advantage of rewards. Who knows... The bummer is I was shopping for a Federal CU at the time that I hoped would be more liberal with lending. DCU wound up being where I landed. I'm hoping to build a good relationship with them as I have a couple of auto loans coming up in the near future.

You are correct NASA does think credit=debt. I applied back in April 2014 for a credit card. Approved for $5,000 which is all that I originally asked for. Tried for a cli denied. Tried for another card denied. Reasons, too much available credit.

I was told by online message with NASA that they use Experian exclusively when I tried for a cli.

I just applied for the membership earlier today.I didn't get any instant decision. I think they pulled EXP and Chex.
Ron.
I applied yesterday as well. My application status as of today shows Referred..
I was approved for an account after sending them a notarized copy of my DL anbd SSC (which is now set up) and also a Visa Platinum awards for 25k, and have not had any hard pull yet. It appears that mine was SP as the credit card said instant approval. I signed my electronic documents for the credit card on Saturday after supplying them another copy of my DL and SSC. The status nows says" INSTANT APPROVED READY FOR FUNDING". Very easy to work with and the customer service personnel have been very helpful.

It's not credit= debt. It's credit = potential debt, which is obviously true. Some banks don't see the required reward/risk ratio to give cards to people with large total CLs (they may not use my card since they have a wide choice, so potential reward is lower, and they could max out all the cards and be unable to repay)
