No I don't think they are inquiry sensitive, they can be sensitive to new accounts for me anyways I was given a denial for that reason . They always heavily weigh DTI and UTi
Yep, they do focus a lot on DTI. I had a rep mention that to me. But DTI at a fixed point in time where credit cards are concerned seems almost pointless. After all, if I have 75k of available credit, but right now I'm only using 2% of it, then how meaningful could my static DTI be? Actually, the same situation applies to mortgage approval. As a former mortgage broker, DTI was/is one of the most critical components of approval. But for countess people buying a home, that static DTI at approval/closing is gonna change as soon as they get those keys in their hands since they will end up buying things for the new house. So, a lot of weight is placed on a very, very temporary number.
I'm certain more than a few people will have a DTI issue if they maxed out some of these $25k credit limits. I wonder if NFCU includes the payment on a maxed out NFCU card in the DTI. Probably not.
After saying all that, who the heck am i to talk? It must be working for them.
@Glen_M wrote:Considering how pull-happy NFCU is itself, it would seem odd for them to be sensitive to high numbers of inquiries.
It does seem a little one way, but excessive (12--3 of them from Navy) inquiries plus new credit were the reasons they listed for denying me a second card earlier this month.

Hmm.... 13 new accounts and 30+ Experian inquiries. I think you have your answer as to why Amex just gave you a CLD on two of your cards.

Very well could be UpperNwGuy--I have more now than when I wrote that.
