Navy FCU Question

so looking to apply for credit card at navy Fcu, and my highest score now is a 690 TU. Lots of good credit like mtgs car loans etc, no real revolving credit. 8 inquiries. What are chances for decent limit card based off TU? Income easy six figures, dti is low.

thanks

Craig

Re: Navy FCU Question

Navy pulls Eq and is generally VERY generous....even if the SL is lower than a amount to thrill, the pace at which

they will CLI can't be beat bar none....

Look around this forum....you'll find folks start with $1000 and bump up to 10,15, 20k within months with NFCU

Where others of us were FLOORED at our SL's to begin with ( I know I was) and don't forget to look up Credit Addict's

Official Guide to NFCU to max CLI's, 2nd cards and How to get your LOC

Good Luck

Re: Navy FCU Question

Going by the poster above, it sounds like it may be worth looking in to. If it's a low starting limit, it seems it can grow into a huge limit quickly. Might be worth it?

Re: Navy FCU Question

On occasion NFCU may pull TU but generally they pull EQ for most people and they use the mortgage scores so on EQ it's Score 5 instead of the 08 scores so that's really what you should find out where your score sits at since that the scoring model they will use. For reference when I joined back in July mine EQ Score 5 was at 704. I had an instant approval for the Cash Rewards card at 14k and the CLOC at 10k. A few days later I managed to pick up a second card at 2k via a SM recon. Stated income at the time was 92k. Two and a half months later both of those cards got a SP CLI to 22k each and two months after that both went to 25k the max without a manual review and I also took the HP to take the CLOC to it's max of 15k. NFCU doesn't appear to be either INQ or new account sensitive though my guess would be that low overall UTIL is always a good idea for both initial SL with them and CLI's. My income has gone up about 25k since I first got my account with them and I could probably push the CL's on my cards past were they are now but I haven't felt the need. I'm also leaving some exposure open with them for business products down the road. They are a fantastic lender and can be generous with CL's beyond what a lot of lenders are willing to give you in terms of overall limits.

Anyone that has an in to get membership with them should. They can easily become most peoples highest limits and most generous lender. And they have great customer service too.

Re: Navy FCU Question

NFCU pulls TU for credit cards and EQ for everything else. I got my 5k Platinum with a 655 TU. If you are worried about score, start with the Platinum and PC over time.

Re: Navy FCU Question

Thanks everyone. Also, would applying say for the credit card, loc, and an auto loan at the same time cause me any problems? I need to buy a new car, and a local credit union I haven't joined yet approved me for 45k but I haven't picked the check up yet. I'd rather do everything with Navy.
Thanks

Ok, has not to be sloppy and go on memory...I just opened my CK to recheck exactly what was pulled (now I don't doubt that maybe if

a person has a CB frozen, things may be different) but generally it's

EQ -Bankcard for CC  (mine was pulled in July'15 for card#1 and in Jan '16 for card #2)

EQ- Mortgage for Loans (and LOC) (mine was pulled in Jan '16)

***Btw No there isn't a 'problem' apping for more than one thing because different depts. handle the request at NFCU

as a matter of fact IMO it's MUST

meaning when I apped for my car in Jan (loving my Lexus btw) it only made sense to app up for the CLOC and ask for the max

b/c it's the same pull and same dept. (pulls go for 30 days but may as well app the same day since it's the same info)

Whereas the CC apps go to a different dept. and they, again run a different model.....

Bottom line is one HP for auto AND CLOC

and CC apps will generate a different HP because it's a different model being used in that dept.

but as mentioned once in you can parlay the AR...SP's for CLI's so it doesn't matter....just GET IN!

Now if I'm wrong on this next part, somebody will help me out (been a long time since I became a member)

I think there is a HP to join as a member anyway (if that's true) you may as well app with member

and then auto/cloc app together....each time hitting two birds at once.

Somebody confirm the app for membership?

Re: Navy FCU Question

I don't remember an HP for membership but I got my CC HP from TU last week. NavChek was EQ but they had to pull TU for some issue with my last name. I don't recall an HP for membership at all. I remember Chexsystems though.

Re: Navy FCU Question

Generally Navy Fed is a TU hp for membership. EQ for credit products. They will pull TU for cc if EQ is unavailable. They will only pull EQ for loan products.
