@ntx wrote:Oh ok, so more than likely that's the issue. I believe once both cards are 1 year old you'll be able to complete this process.Another confirmation - I just went through this also. I sent a secure message to move my limit and close the card. It took a week for a reply, which told me I had to call in for that. So I called in last Wednesday, and the rep said it would be 3-5 business days, and to call back after that if I hadn't heard from them or seen my limit change.
So I called them yesterday, and the rep said both cards had to be at least a year old to reallocate limits.
Good get some confirmation on the 1 year mark. I'll try again in November with hopefully a couple more CLIs on the cards.
Is that to reallocate and close one? Or just any reallocation in general?
I'm not really sure generally. My request was to reallocate and close though.

@ntx thank you for confirming this!

Isn't the Navy Max on a single card $50k? I thought I read that here previously.

I believe all but the Flagship, which is $80k. But that's from other people's data points. I'll know in the next day or so if I can contribute new data points.

$80k on Flagship, but otherwise yes.
And so my data point is... Request denied, with no reason given. Pressing the rep, I was told that the lending department said the accounts were not eligible to have the limits combined.
My guess is that because all the accounts were not eligible for CLI (one of the receiving accounts just had a CLI last month), they didn't look at components of the request separately. We'll see in 5 months.

I hate to hear this is becoming a standard thing. I guess they're just gonna have to grow 4k at a time now.
Previous reports have indicated the possibility that both the consolidator and consolidatee cards have to be eligible for a CLI in order to process a CL transfer, and in my case of the three, one wasn't. (saving the upwards scrolling, I was looking to close one of three cards and move the CL from it to two others, one of which was not eligible for a CLI having just had one).
I'm at the max exposure with NFCU, so there's no growth to go, this was entirely a trimming the portfolio move for me (without wanting to reduce total CL or impact my AAA much, etc.).

That has never been a requirement for merging cards. Disco is the one that's known for that.
The reality is that NFCU's official policy is not to allow account combinations and they have been making "one time" exceptions for awhile now. It wouldn't surprise me if they stop allowing account combinations altogether because people abuse them. They'll get a small CLI on an existing card and open up a new one to get a huge limit and then immediately ask to move some or all of the limit over or they'll get the SUB and then merge it after a year.
