Hmm so in other words you want to combine your cards to one(TY preferred card) Its very common with Chase, have you called CITI? Has any1 here done this bfore with CITI?
Any Citi bank card holders out there.
Not sure how much my experience can help in this situation, but I have a citi thank you premier and applied for the citi forward. I was denied and attempted to move some of my current CL over to this new card and they said no. This is probably due to them not wanting to give me the Forward card, but its the limited experience I have to offer. Are you trying to get to $5k to get a Visa Signature card? Good luck!
Citi is VERY unwilling to do this at all. In the past they cited the CARD act as a reason (which apparently doesn't bother Chase). I have four Citi cards (Forward, TYP 5x, Premier and AA Plat Select). I was going to close my AA card, and tried to move my CL to another card. I was told this is impossible. I was finally moved to a retention specialist (who gave me an offer I accepted) but she told me for future reference, that to move a CL, you a) have to close the card, and b) a portion of the CL is retained "in case you want to reopen the closed card". So in my case, the CL on the AA card is $15K, if I closed it I could move $10K to another card.
So, unless this is a YMMV thing (and others have had the same story), not nearly as friendly as chase, you have to close a card and lose some of the CL anyway.
I tried earlier this year to move part of a limit from one Citi card to another and they said that's not something that they can do.
