I'm thinking of using their Plan It payment plan for at least six months. But, I don't want it to affect my CLI that I hope to get in 6 months.
Will Amex frown on me keeping the card at 29% util (even if overall util on other cards is less than 10%)?
Will paying just the minimum payment be a negative? What does Amex like to see?
Plan It is more of AMEX' acquiescence to business reality than a core strategy because they realize they need to drive both acceptance and usage.
They still prefer PIF, and they are really no different than any other lender in that while making mininum payments fulfills one's obligation to keep the account current, it also signals potentially elevated risk in ones ability to fully pay back the balance due. It's not a good optic if planning to ask for CLIs.
