That's correct, I actually asked for two reductions with Citi just one billing period apart, and both were granted. Don't think there ever is another lender like this.
Interesting, on my Citi Best Buy card, I can't get below 26.49%. Of course I've only had the card a couple of months now. Tried through chat, but got nowhere.
Best Buy is an affiliate card... not a Citi Legacy card....
I.E the Best Buy card is not Citi's own product..
Most of these affiliated or cobranded cards have different rules.. but try again in 6 months....
I can confirm that Chase will never change the APR on a card. My sister got a Freedom card as one of her first cards when she was younger. She has 800+ FICOs too, and she can't get them to budge either.
Same goes for Wells Fargo. They were my first new card when I started my rebuild, but I got stuck with their highest APR. Despite many requests over the years (and many other cash and loan accounts with them), they insisted that they couldn't change the APR on a credit card. I ended up closing the account recently as a result.
Citi and Discover have given me permanent APR reductions every time I've requested them.
Bank of America has given me one small APR reduction, but has otherwise denied my requests.
Amex has denied all my requests for APR reduction.
