Re: NerdWallet’s Top 10 Credit Cards of 2013

I think that list should include a very different mix of cards.

I don't believe a Capitol One card will ever make it on to a top ten list of mine unless it is a list of cards for "new comers" and those in repair mode.

Even though the U.S. Bank Cash+ was nerfed I believe it is worthy of top ten status because it allows you to cater the rewards per quarter.

Also the Penfed platinum rewards card should've made the list. . .
Amex B.C.E. - $2.5k - Amex Everyday - $5k - N.C.F.C.U.M.C. - $5k - Amex Gold - NPSL/35k P.O.T. - Discover It - $12k - Sam's Club M.C. - $10k -
Walmart M.C. - $7.5k - Citi T.Y.P. - $10k- Chase Freedom - $5k - Chase Marriott - $7.4k - U.S. Bank Cash + - $6k -
W.M. TU-781(Jan/15) Citi EQ-782(Dec/14) EX-782(Oct/14)

Re: NerdWallet’s Top 10 Credit Cards of 2013

I'm not surprised that the Penfed PRV is not on the list. First of all it's not a widely known card outside of federal, military and credit card forum circles. Second, it's a tough card to get...the standards are high and you have to make a small donation to military families before you are even considered (if you don't qualify normally by being military or working for the Feds). But if you can get one, it's a sweet deal without caps on points. I for one, like it to be a great little secret.

Re: NerdWallet’s Top 10 Credit Cards of 2013

In my view, a dubious list, at best.

Venture as the best overall value card?  Does Capital One own Nerdwallet?  After this list, at best, I'll never take anything from these guys seriously again.

I don't agree with many of their choices either. Take what they've said with a grain of salt (at best).

If not, they're giving the concept of being "openly mercenary" a bad name.

Re: NerdWallet’s Top 10 Credit Cards of 2013

I believe we should allow this thread to fade away in to the archives by lack of response as it appears to have been a "targeted advertisement" that would financially benefit a small group rather than empower many with knowledge that could be put to use as a tool for self improvement.

Please acknowledge that this is my personal opinion, not an attack against the aforementioned website nor the new member of our forum.
