New App or Product Change CFU?

Hello all!

So I have the Chase FU which is currently SD. It has been since I met the SUB (10/2017). I don't use it since I have the Citi DC and put a $4 transaction every 4-6 months . Now I could find use for the Chase Freedom with the 5% rotating categories. I'm not interested in the Chase trifecta at this point since I don't travel, but might in the future. That means if I do the PC, I'll have to apply again for the CFU when I do start to travel. I will also be leaving the CF SUB on the table if I move forward with the PC. How should I proceed? Should I PC the CFU to the CF and avoid a HP or just do a new app? I'll also add that I was recently approved for the Barclays Uber Visa. I might have to space out the CF app if I go that route to avoid AA from Barclays. I'm currently at 4/24. Thanks in advance!

Re: New App or Product Change CFU?

I think most people PC CSP to CFU , i personally don't think CFU is worth a HP on its own. Things may be different now that CSP/CSR sub are once every four as opposed to once every two. If you don't use CFU right now then I would transfer to CF if you can. Also 15000 UR sub for freedom isn't something i would lose sleep over.

Re: New App or Product Change CFU?

I would app the Freedom to get the SUB. It’s another step toward eventual Trifecta completion.

Get the SUB, leave the 15,000 UR in your account, re-think (stop) using the Double Cash and start building up UR with the CFU and Freedom.

Then app CSP or CSR as appropriate, add another 50,000 UR or 60,000 UR, and look for useful travel redemption options.

Or continue with Double Cash and fritter away your current spend on simple $25 redemptions that don’t lead to a memorable vacation.

Re: New App or Product Change CFU?

IMO if you are going with chase trifecta you should go all in , no cash back cards , you want to accumulate as many UR as you can , you will be missing out on a lot of UR if you are using DC for non category spend.
