I dont see Synch re issuing any accounts that they keep, would be a complete waste of money, time and effort. Paperwork loving Barclays didnt even bother with that.

Well, the vast majority of Walmart accounts are store cards, and they can't keep the same store card account number, and if they keep the account it would seem converting it to a Visa/MC would pretty much be their only choice. In fact, I think converting it to a Sams Club MC would be the logical step, they can't convert it to a Sams Club store card if you don't have a membership, and there's likely a good number folks with a Walmart store card that also have Sams Club.

I'll be watching the mailbox with anticipation. I'm fine with Cap One but already have 3 cards with them, so I'd rather stay with Sync.

Capital One currently manages several PLCC accounts (i.e. Menards, Neiman Marcus, etc.) without being part of any major network such as V/MC.   Although premature, it's doubtful that they'll convert current Walmart store accounts to MC if such accounts don't meet certain thresholds or internal criteria.  It's likely they'll simply generate a different account number that adheres to Capital One standards.  Plus, I'm sure due to contract liability, no Walmart store or MC accounts would be converted to a Sam's Club store or MC.

No, since the Sync notice said "your account MAY be transferred to Cap One" we were talking about Sync might do for Walmart store accounts they might keep. So I was saying if Sync keeps the "cream of the crop" Walmart accounts they would have to change the account #, they couldn't keep the same Walmart account #, and in that scenario Sync might convert them to a Visa/MC, and a Sams Club MC would make sense.

I agree Cap One would not likely make any changes to the Walmart accounts it acquires, at least not initially.

Migrating a WM card to a Sam's Club credit card (PLCC or MasterCard) is never going to happen.

The same things that would prevent a converstion to a Sam's PLCC would prevent a converstion to the Sam's Club MasterCard, since a membership is required to redeem rewards on the Sam's Club MC, and a membership is required to apply for (or retain) it.

The two portfolios are completely separate, and this seems to have been a deliberate choice.

Re: Walmart CapitalOne Merger Question

I just wish I could product change my Sam's Club MC to another card. The most useless card in my possession since there are no more Sam's Club in the Pacific Northwest. I'm only keeping it for the history and utilization padding (15k ain't bad).

Have you received letter from Cap One about Walmart Card?

I thought I'd create a thread in which people could report whether and/or when they've received notice from Cap One that their Walmart card is moving over. I have not received a letter yet so I hope that doesn't mean anything.

Re: Have you received letter from Cap One about Walmart Card?

I don't understand why this thread was moved to one that started last year but whatever.

Interestingly, one mod gave the original new thread kudos and another one didn't think it should have its own thread and moved it here.

@MaxEthan, a separate thread would create unnecessary confusion as there are already existing DPs that have been posted on this one which also includes information from individuals who have received such communications from Capital One on the upcoming transition.

Also, just to clarify so there's no confusion, the kudos given was on moving that post to this thread to keep things seamlessly for other members to have a consolidated point of reference.  So the 'kudos' and the movement are consistent.

Re: Have you received letter from Cap One about Walmart Card?

I’m curious to see if Capital One will upgrade any of the store cards to Mastercard.  I also wonder what 5ge rewards program will be.
