Norwegian MasterCard

Does anyone have experience with this CC? I’ve been on a few cruises with them and I was interested in taking my wife on a cruise in June for her birthday. Does anyone know who BOA uses for credit now? I actually burned them back in 2007-2008. Went on their prequalified site and it gave me numerous cards to apply for. None of which listed any details on int rates and etc. should I take the plunge in the future? Thanks for everyone’s advise.

Re: Norwegian MasterCard

BoA typically uses EX for any new applications.  If you burned BoA (IIB or otherwise), chances are you may be on their naughty list.  Only way to know for sure is when you apply.

Of noteworthy, the "Check for your offers" portal, is not a pre-qualifying tool per se.  That simply yields the best or recommended cards based on simple input criteria.  You can try and see if any of your pets would have any offers, and you'll see Smiley Wink

Re: Norwegian MasterCard

Thanks for the intel. I may just wait a bit and see how things pan out. I’m not 100% sure I’m going to to book the cruise just would be great if I did I could pay for it on their CC.

Re: Norwegian MasterCard

It was a CO account. I took a personal loan for 75k to fund a construction project I was trying to finish. Then the housing bubble burst and everyone was recalling CL’s. That’s when the bottom dropped out for me and I lost it all. Had 3 houses me and a buddy were trying to flip. And they were very expensive homes to boot. So we had no choice but, to pack it in and run for the hills with just our cloths on our backs lol.

Re: Norwegian MasterCard

I would probably stay away from this card. It doesn’t really have anything going for it. It’s only like 1CCP on down outside of booking ncl cruises when that will be 3 CCP. I didn’t see any interest free time advertised either for booking cruises. Even the sign up bonus is only $100.

You would probably be better off with Bank of America travel rewards. $250 SUB and earns 1.5CPP and is interest free for 12 months.

Or the BoA Premium rewards. $500 SUB minus $95 annual fee and your up $400 and it’s 2CPP on all your purchases. However it doesn’t have any 0% intro rate that I could see if you wanted to finance it.

The best card for cruises in my opinion used to be Disco when they had the offers up. Most cruise lines were 5% cash back and it was still eligible for cash back match. We were lucky and got a few cruises in at 10% discount and 0% financing. You could still find gift cards for some cruise lines in grocery stores and gas stations or for travel sites like Expedia. U could still get 5% but of course only in $1500 category spurts.

Re: Norwegian MasterCard

Thanks for you reply. Yes I did see that with regards to BOA rewards cards. That maybe a option instead of the Norwegian CC. Thank you very much 😎.

Re: Norwegian MasterCard

Thanks for the info. Not sure what I’m going to do. Probably just stick with what I got for now to be honest. It’s not making sense at the moment.

Re: Norwegian MasterCard

As much as I like NCL, I considered getting this card. However, it simply lacks any real benefits and the SUB is one of the smallest around at 10K points. Which is worth a $100 on board credit. If you cruise a lot, and I mean a lot. Then it could be worth it, because their redemption chart is very expensive. If you only cruise once per year the points really woudn't add very fast, a $6K cruise for example would ony earn about 10K points at 3X1. Also the 1 point for all other spend would be competing with your other rewards cards.

You would probably get more benefit out of another card's travel point system. If you already cruise anyways, those purchases could be earned on say MR point system and put towards other travel. As someone else once pointe out, it's better to not spread yourself across the many point systems and try to stick to one. Or even two, rather than 4-6.
