Not activating cards.

If you dont activate a card that you regret applying for will that card close by itself and not report to the bureaus?

Re: Not activating cards.

I don't think so. The account is still open even if you didn't activate the card. I applied for the Chase BP Visa two years ago but I never activated or used it. It still reports on all three credit reports.

Re: Not activating cards.

Correct me if I am wrong, but you have a small grace period where you can cancel a new card you just app'd for and the card will not report at all.

Re: Not activating cards.

But then you just wasted a hard pull. Why not just keep the credit card?

sometime ago a friend of mine had been sent a new citi card for renewal and he didn't activate it (he thinks he shreaded it) and the account was automatically closed after a certain period of time and for right now its still on his credit reports and it reads "closed by consumer" He's leaving it go cuz it was of no use to him, as he has a $19,000 BOA card that he has had open since like 1962 or 1972 or somthing like that. (it was FIA but then they recently sent him a BOA Card). lol

Not sure.

Does it say anything in the T&C?

IIRC, I recently read one banks T&C and it said something about activating/not activating the card and what happens or doesn't happen.

I can't fully remember, otherwise I would be more detailed.  But definitely check the T&C.
