Opt Out and Opt In?

Forgive me if this topic has already been covered, but I e-mailed DMA (Direct Marketing Association) to tell them I wanted my name OFF the Opt Out list.  They replied and said my name wasn't on it! They said (which I alredy knew) that names stay on for 5 years and I know it has been more than 5 years since I signed up.

No, I am not crazy but I am missing out on a lot of good mail offers (coupons from local stores, samples, etc.) and I wouldn't be unhappy receiving offers from other creditors.

My friend's mailbox is inundated with this stuff and all I get are mortgage lenders asking me if I want to refinance with them!  I feel neglected.Smiley Very Happy  Any ideas on how can I start getting "good junk mail" again????

You can call 1-888-567-8688 or go to http://www.optoutprescreen.com
I was previously opted out and called to opt back in.
I was feeling neglected not receiving offers in the mail too.Smiley Happy

Re: Opt Out and Opt In?

Dredging up this topic to ask a potentially dumb question. How do you know if you are opted in or opted out? I may have opted out years ago and forgotten. I don't get much fan mail but it could just be that I'm off the radar. I went to the website and couldn't find a way of checking if I am an inie or an outie.

Just opt back in.  I had a feeling I was opted-out, but it took me a little while to figure out why (a 90 day FA).

Sure enough, within about 6 weeks the crap started coming back!  (Including that silly Wamu offer.)

Re: Opt Out and Opt In?

Logical Peas! If I start getting a mailbox full, I was opted out. No change, I was already in and they just don't like me. LOL

Yup, since I'm not apping I needed some sort of feedback as to who wants me!  LOL

Good luck!  And be prepared to shred and recycle!
