I accidentally over charged my Chase FU credit card today and as soon as i realized, i paid more than that within minutes.
Will there be a overlimit charge or a credit report on this?
A few questions:
Your payment will probably post before the charge does, so I think your balance will never officially be over the limit. That being said, I think fees for overcharging are becoming less and less popular these days.
U should be fine. Signature cards are, as I understand them, "flexible".!
That means that you are able to charge well past your limit and the purchase will still go thru. You will be utilizing over 100% of the limit for that card and I think that mark stays on your credit report as long as the card is open.
This happened with my CSP and my United cards. At one point my balance was $0 and some things just took place in my life and before I knew it, BOTH of the cards were over-maxed. Took me a while and some more extreme changes and I finally managed to pay both balances off to $0! No over the limit fees at all.
At first, I was really upset that Chase allowed this to happen and did not decline the 1st charge that took me over the limit. Oh well. it's flexible!
