True. Im hoping for a Chase card within the year so williampaid may be worth it eventually. Def not for 1point/$1 w nfcu

Right, for the 40,000 sign up bonus CSP, it is definitely worth it.

$3,000 in rent costs $81 fee, but you receive 43,000 points.  With first year fee waived, you net $349.00 just for paying rent.  Absolutely worth it.  Just rinse and repeat every few months and go through the best sign up bonsues for a very rewarding year!

For how great nfcu is with every single other thing, its surprising their rewards are so behind

Rewards for money spent will always appear underwhelming when compared to sign up bonuses.  This will change when interest rates increase and sign up bonuses beging to disappear.

Thats true. The sign up bonus masks the actual point value

Re: Pay rent with a credit card??

Williampaid.com charges 2.7% of total payment and lets you pay rent with a credit card and does not count as cash advance. It's excellent for meeting minimum spends (that's what I use it for), but the fee - and it's the lowest of any of the CC-rent-payment-sites - more than offsets even the best rewards cards, like the SPG (1 point worth 2.5c per dollar) or the Fidelity Amex or the Venture or any other of the 2% cards. It doesn't fall in to any of the 3%, 5%, or 6% categories on Amex or 5% rotators, but I think it fell in to one of the 5% categories on the USBank Cash+.

You can buy Amex giftcards from Bigcrumbs for 1.7% discount, and then use the giftcards to pay rent through Williampaid for a net of 1% loss, which is worth it with some cards that offer more than 1% earn, like the SPG or 2% cards.

Goal: 760 by End of Year
Current Score: 714 TU (2-3/12); 681 EQ (2-3/12); 714 EX (AmEx Pull: 2-7/12); 777 VantageScore (2-3/12)
AmEx BCE ($4k) - AmEx SPG ($7.5k) - Amex PRG (NPSL) - Citi Forward ($7.6k) - Discover IT ($3k) - BankAmericard Cash Rewards ($5k)
Chase Freedom ($1k) - Chase Amazon ($3k) - PayPal Extras ($6k) - Cap One Cash ($0.5k) - Amazon Store ($2.5k)

Application-Free Since the 14th of the Second May of 2012.

Re: Pay rent with a credit card??

Pay bills like cable and AT&T up front for next 6 months is also an option

Re: Pay rent with a credit card??

As others have said, use PayPal. It is the easiest way to accomplish what you want to do. Suggest it to the landlord, mine is happy with it. He automatically gets his money on time every month and doesn't have to hunt me down like he does the check-writers. You might need to add the 3%, or whatever the fee is now. Or you could just send it as a "gift" to avoid the fees altogether.
