Re: Paying off card with a gift card.......................

There is a risk that Barclaycard will think you're not using the card as intended and close the account.

So far as I knew, encouraging/discussing the specific ways of doing MS was a no-no on these forums.

I don't think anyone was advocating MS in this thread.  But....

As a general reminder, advocation of MS is not a topic that meets our Forum purposes and is therefore against our ForumTOS.  MS, or Manufactured Spend, may also be a violation of your credit card T&Cs, which is another reason we typically stay away from the topic on the Forums.  --SE

My Barclays card has 0 perecnt until Jan 2017 on purchases only, can I buy a prepaid card and payoff my CapOne card with that so it constitues as a purchase? I apologize if this has been covered, I did search and couldnt find anything. Thanks.

MS discussions aside, I generally don't think this is a good idea.   For one, a large purchase would probably raise flags with Barclay.   For another, you may not be able to use the prepaid card as a debit card.   Some lenders allow debit cards to be used for payment if you call in or pay in person.

Why not just see if Barclay has any BT offers for you?   I received one recently for 0% APR at a 1% BT fee.
