Re: Pre-qualify for credit card HELP

Don't know how much I'd trust the Discover site. Just for the heck of it I just went and tried it, and it came back with no offers. So I clicked the link that said reason for denial. It stated something to the effect that they were unable to locate me. I have several national bank cards that I know report to all 3 bureaus. I should be pretty easy to find and if they can't do that, how good is the rest of their info?

Have you ever been softed by them?

With Discover, I think that the preapprovals come up IF they have already softed you. If they haven't, they can't locate you in their system. Since all you enter are your first and last name and last four of your social, I don't see how they could do a real-time soft inquiry. Wouldn't swear to it, though.

I get the same result.

For grins and giggles, I did the first link.

Congratulations, you are pre qualified for a secured card LOL.

I imagine these are all shut down because of the Capital One buy out.

I don't think so, I just got approved for a Household Bank Platinum.

If you've opted out or don't meet their minimum requirements, they wont have any offers for you.

Re: Pre-qualify for credit card HELP

Was glad to find out that Discover had a prequal site....but then...

Since we couldn't find you in our records, we are unable to provide you with pre-approved offers.

This may be due to a number of common circumstances including:

  • If you recently changed your address
  • If you placed a freeze on your credit
