I have a charge that is taking forever to clear and my statement closes on 2nd. Do you think it will send any redflags if I make a $500 payment when it shows my balance at zero incase the charge clears right when the statement cuts? If so, how will it be reported showing a credit?
If you want to force a payment, go for it.

What do you mean 'force'? It looks like it will allow me to make the payment on Amex website, despite my balance showing 0.
Nevermind. I think amex saw this thread because now I have a $700 balance..lol
No, it doesn't send up any red flags. Cards that report when you have a credit balance will report as zero.
Forcing a payment is using your banks bill pay option to 'force' AMEX to take a payment. Nothing wrong with doing it.

Thanks for that info for the future. I just paid that $716 balance so it will report zero. This $2000 limit is for the birds but Amex just won't increase it!!
