Mastercard you get like two price protection claims within 60 days of purchase within 12 month period. I've used this a couple times on REI store Mastercard. Not the best but better than nothing.

How does price protection on REI purchases work, if REI issues a dividend each year?

Or are these purchases from other stores, rather than REI?

When I used Citi Price Rewind for REI stuff, my claims were approved without factoring in the dividend. I just used the price on the receipt.

Not out of intentional dishonesty...I didn't know until just checking now that the dividend could be redeemed as cash (rather than only store credit) and didn't bother to track whether items were eligible for the dividend or not.

Re: Price protection after Citi

The price protection was handled through Mastercard, so independent of REI or dividend. I've only used it twice (some backpacks I gave as gift) but it was pretty seemless. The lower price was from another online camping store. Pretty sure items were on sale already at REI so not elligible for dividend but I don't see any reason why both wouldn't apply. Shame to hear MC is killing this benefit. I did use Discover's pretty frequently until they removed it as well.

Re: Price protection after Citi

A few of the previous cards have lost price protection. The remaining ones I see include:

Barclays Uber
Chase Hyatt
Chase IHG
United
US Bank Cash 365

Dead benefit:

Citibank
Mastercard writ large
USAA

The other problem is that most of the remaining cards exclude internet price-matching--with the exception, I think, of the Uber card. Anyone have experience using this card? Please share.

Re: Price protection after Citi

Does anyone use price protection through a credit union or small bank? I have a specific category in mind (books) and am looking for a card that accepts Internet advert-matching.
