I have two QS1 cards with Cap1. One of the cards was due for renewal last month so I dropped and email to the EO asking for the AF to be waived. They called me and said sure, no problem. We'll permanently waive it.
Well, this month the other card was due for renewal so I dropped another email to the EO. They called me yesterday and said that they could upgrade me to a QS and would be shipping out a new card. I didn't think about it while I was on the phone with her, but according to their website, they don't offer a QS MasterCard and from what I've read here, they won't PC you to the QS Visa. So I'm not sure what "new" card they are sending me. Anybody have any idea?

They're giving you a Quicksilver MasterCard which you can't apply for, but is given to people who product change.
+1
My DW has a QS WMC which was an upgrade from her Platinum MC to QS MC and later QS MC to QS WMC.
CONGRATS on your upgrade!!!
I tried after my PC to upgrade to WMC and they said they wouldn't without a CLI to $5k (I'm at $4500). I knew that going into it, so I asked them along with my WMC upgrade request for a $500 CLI to $5k. They denied both.
GOOD LUCK, though, I have heard of people getting a WMC upgrade at ~$3500 from Cap 1...

FYI my card just went to WMC on 1/28/15 and it is not chipped like how my freedom and Slate are
My card got changed to Quicksilver mastercard after I asked for my card to be upgraded to a rewards card after having it for a year. They had just increased the limit to 1300, so it was a nice upgrade as well.
