Question for those familiar with US Bank specifically regarding new travel card

Currently I ave zero products with US Bank and really have never had any interest in them until this new travel card came out.  I know that the card is only for current US Bank customers.  My question is if I open a small checking account with them will that meet their requirements for being a customer and then I could immediately apply or is there some required period that I would have to wait?  How are they in general about lots of existing credit.? I've been good lately but over the last  2 1/2 years I have opened lots of new accounts

According to posts around the various boards, new customers will likely have a wait 5 to 35 days while the new bank account(s) filter through their systems. Modernization to their process is coming this year but just not right now.

Heh ok.  Thanks for the info. Wonder how long the limited time offer for the card will be around.

I heard you can open an account (chk, sav, cd) and apply for the Altitude Card at the same time.

Not really.  I guess I could open a checking account and hope the card offer will still be there after 35 days
