Re: Question on Citi TYP app

Ok, but...regarding Plasticard's comment about the first payment requirement by Citi, I was looking around their site tonite and thought I saw a reference to this, that in order to make first payment on new card, one has to set up Citi's online bill pay, thereby setting up your bank's routing number, something that seems ridiculous and I truly wanted to avoid, so did anyone have to make their first payment that way?

Also could be kicking myself for not apping for the Citi Dividend instead.  I asked a rep on private message on their Facebook tonite about their 2-card rule (length of time between applying for 2 cards), and he said it didn't matter.  I'm not so sure though, I've heard 24 hours, 8 days, 30 days and 60 days, anyone know for certain?

You don't have to make your 1st payment on Citi's online bill pay portal, but it would help to have this feature set-up to have a secondary back up source for making your payments.  Alternatively, you can push your 1st payment through your bank.

As far as a 2nd Citi CC, approval will still depend on your creditworthiness.  For optimal results I would wait a while before submitting a 2nd one in a row.  If you have the uncontrollable "urges" to apply then wait after 30 days...but YEMV.

Re: Question on Citi TYP app

Thanks, FinStar, that's great to know about the first payment.

I'm in no hurry to apply again, credit is in great shape, and upon rethinking this, I think I'll see how it works out with Citi for awhile before considering another card .   The Dividend appealed to me for the rotating cashback options, to combine with Chase and Discover's.   I'm sure it will still be around in the near future Smiley Happy

Re: Question on Citi TYP app

RnJ - Just wanted to clarify. I had to do the first payment online because I was trying to pay thru the iOS app. However, the app said I would need to first make a payment online before I could use the app to make payments. So it might be different in your case since you pay thru your bank.

Re: Question on Citi TYP app

The Dividend is a great card. I like mine a lot. In my experience, Discover and Chase's categories overlapped quite a bit. I liked using my Discover (they have great customer service, a much better website and mobile app than Chase, a better APR than Chase) a lot more than my Chase Freedom, so Chase got the ax from me. Citi and Discover categories seem to overlap much less frequently. And Citi's customer service is good, although they do try to sell you on a balance transfer when you call in (What balance would you like me to transfer over, Citi? The only balance I have is on Bill Me Later, and that's 0% APR Smiley Very Happy)

Re: Question on Citi TYP app

Plasticard, no worries, I did see a reference to it on their site, but it wasn't referencing an app, so who knows!

chwebb1, thanks for that, I actually had good luck with Discover and Chase this year (or should I say last) for the bonus categories, but came up short for a few, which is why I should have apped the Dividend to round them up.

I'm actually surprised that more isn't posted here about the Citi Dividend, the forums are my go-to for "reviews" on certain cards, so your experience was very helpful!
