Questions about Amex Vs. BofA cards

I've been thinking about opening a new card for myself for awhile now but haven't bit the bullet. Can someone help with some questions about these two cards. I'm thinking about a 0% purchase and balance transfer card from with Amex or BofA.

I currently have one Amex card and a card from Navy.

Its likely that I could get a soft pull card from Amex, like a Blue Cash card . But since my biggest spend is takeout I don't really spend much on groceries.

I also last year started a savings account with BofA just to start a realationship. My concern with them is that they usually start at lower limits, but those can build. They have a card where you can pick a 3% cash back category. I've also heard that they can close cards for weird reasons like a collection showing up, even if it's not yours and you can clear it, or you carry a balance during the 0% interest period.

Does anyone know how long it takes for an Amex card to show up on your credit report?

I remember thinking Amex took a while? What about BofA is that also a statement or two or is it right away like some banks?

Thanks

Re: Questions about Amex Vs. BofA cards

My first Amex (PRG, now equivalent to the $250 Gold card) took about 1.5 months after opening to appear on my reports. This is not unusual.

Personal spend: Amex Gold, Amex Schwab Plat., BofA PR+CCR(x2), Costco
Business use: Amex Bus. Plat., BBP, Lowes Amex AU, CFU AU
Perks: Delta Plat., United Explorer, IHG49, Hyatt, "Old SPG"
Mostly SD: Freedom Flex, Freedom, Arrival
Upgrade/Downgrade games: ED, BCE
SUB chasing: AA Platinum Select

If your only Amex is new then a new card through American express might be a HP not a SP

Re: Questions about Amex Vs. BofA cards

Kinda, it's like 6.5 months old. I meant if I were to get a new one , how long would it take to show up Amex VS BofA.

im sure it will hurt my AAOA

Re: Questions about Amex Vs. BofA cards

6-1/2 months of history with Amex should be more than sufficient to get a SP approval. Amex reports after the second statement. Often the first statement period is short though - my experience has been like that posted above, around 6 weeks or so from approval to reporting.

I have no BoA accounts so I can’t offer anything there.

Re: Questions about Amex Vs. BofA cards

So you were right I was preapproved. However , I got a pop up saying I was not eligible to receive the promo offer for the 0% interest/balance transfer. I have no idea why as I thought that applied to people who chased bonuses or churned. This is my only Amex card and I've only ever got one bonus. I've never closed a card and only actually have a few. Confused.

Re: Questions about Amex Vs. BofA cards

What is your current AMEX?

Month opened? Did you get a 0% APR offer, if so for how long, and are you still using it?

Was there any sort of SUB or promo offer with your first AMEX?

How much do you spend on your first AMEX? About how much total have you run through it?

Re: Questions about Amex Vs. BofA cards

I did wind up getting approved for an Amex, just not the one I wanted. For some reason I was not eligible for the Blue Cash card with the promo, but I was with the Amex Everyday.

The older Amex was the only card I've opened in the last year. It is 6 months old. It did have the zero apr attached to it. Not sure why I was able to get the promo on one but not the card I wanted.
