Quicksilver One v Quicksilver

I am rebuilding...i currently have a cap 1 plat 300. and recently approved for a QS One...with a CL of 500.  Traditionally, will the QS CL grow?  i also have an applied bank secured for only 200.00, i have a creditone with a CL of 550. and finalyy recently approved for a Barclays - Average with a line of 1300.00.  So, I have a total of 5 credit cards with a total CL of 2850.  My util is at 11%.  I want to grow the CL, not necessarily get more cards....my first goal is overall line of 10K.  I am not sure if I should set tight and try to grow these cards, or maybe apply for one more that may give me 1000 or so and then plan on growing the new card and the Barclays....I need guidance.  thanks

The QS1 is a credit steps card it will not grow like a normal card would. In your lineup of cards the only one worth anything for good CLIs is Barclays, that is the one I would put most of the spend on and take care of. I would let all this age for 6 months, get the CLI on the Barclays then app for better cards.

Re: Quicksilver One v Quicksilver

dale, thanks for the input!  Do yo think it would be too ambitios to try to go for a Chase Preferred?  Also, would a Chase store card open the door for Chase down the road.  One of my longterm goals is the Chase Southwest Visa.  I am ready to dump the applied, credit one, and cap 1 if necessary!  thanks

How often does Barclays give you a CLI?  Is it automatic or do you have to request one?

The store card IMO would have no bearing on a main line Chase card, I am able to get Chase store cards but not main cards due to previous issues over a decade ago now... At this point I would just sit back and let everything grow before going after the Chase Preferred.

Re: Quicksilver One v Quicksilver

As was stated the only card with hopes of significant growth I believe is the Barclays card.  Cap 1 seems to deny CLI for a long time.  Credit one gives tiny increases like 250 every 6 mos for a fee.  I have had good success with Gecrb cards......store cards are easy to get with decen scores....their Walmart and Sam's Club Discover cards were good for me as we'll as the Old Navy visa.  You get two chances at a cc with gecrb......if you a don't qualify for the mastercard or visa version you may still get a store card.  It's like two chances for a single credit pull.  Just my thoughts.

Re: Quicksilver One v Quicksilver

Hi

Capital one does up credit lines once you have established history with them. I started out with one for 300 and 500, I had 3 orchard bank cards that were also converted, they were at 400,500,600,

my lines now are 1500,1500,2500,3600,and 500.  So for me at least they have grown. I have had he opposite luck with GE backed cards as the previous poster did. The only one that has grown is my care credit card from 3000 to 7000. my others have not grown 1 dollar, still the small limits that I had 2 years ago, cannot get an increase on line and I have called the number and am rejected every time for every card.

For what its worth I do carry balances every month, but am working on getting my debt reduced. Once I pay everything down to <10% then maybe they will increase my limits.

I also have barclays apple card, started out at 1300 , two years ago and is still the same, no CLI in two years.

So its a your milage may very thing.   Best wishes

Re: Quicksilver One v Quicksilver

Do you have to use your Capital One cards to get a CLI? I have two, one for $300 and another for $500. I got them so I could have an emergency card in my car. If I don't use it, would they likely give me a CLI? And we're they automatic, or did you have to request them?

Re: Quicksilver One v Quicksilver

Are you sure Cap1 QS1 isnt worth keeping? Because as your score improves i know you could be elegible on getting the AF removed but if that is removed wouldnt that mean its like their Visa but not siggy/world? So wouldnt it keep increasing on the limit over time? I know Cap1 likes to see usage and big payments.
