I hear they grill you on the reasons for your BK. No thanks.Smiley Sad

CCCU will pull hard on EX and soft on EQ. Takes a little while but they are great.  I think Cap One will combine your cards. They did mine.

Juny gave me a $500 limit with a 720 credit score. I'm coming up on 6 Months and if I don't see a increase I'm gonna close the card.

Which Juni card?

From 700 in 2008 to 498 in 2012...
4/23/12 -- BK 13 date of filing EQ = 505
4/18/12 -- EQ 498
12/5/13 -- EQ 669
Here we go.... back on track.

Re: Rant about Juniper Low CC limit with FICO of 710

I'm in a maturing stage of credit rebuilding after a BK 6 years ago. Juniper is my best account so far. I have a higher limit elsewhere but landed $2500 at %7.99. I'm pretty proud of that. I hope in another 6 years that Juniper is my worst account.

Re: Rant about Juniper Low CC limit with FICO of 710

I was at 710 when I got mine. They gave me $1000 at 7.99%.
Very disappointing when Hooters gave me $5000 and then I did a CLi and got $1250 more in only 2 weeks.

2 months later they lowered my limit to $750 because of the Hooters card and another card I had at the time and inquiries (had 4).

Been about a year since then and I'm still at $750 and if I ask about a CLi they say they don't do requests and they review your account.

When it hits a year I may just close it. The rate is great but what good is a card that I can only use to fill my gas tank once a month, and the way things are going I might need a backup card Smiley Very Happy

DW was at about 780 and they came through with $15K.  We were stunned  Smiley Happy

Re: Rant about Juniper Low CC limit with FICO of 710

I appreciate the feedback. Neither one of us qualifies for a NFCU or similar Credit Union card, and since reading this, maybe we were 'lucky' to get $1250 as a limit.  Now we have inquiries from Capone and Juniper on our report and I hate to even try to ask for one from our Bank or anywhere else.  We were VERY indebted when we had our BK and must have created 'ill-feelings' from BofA, Citibank,Discover, Sears, AMEX, coupled with the BK and foreclosure.  Loosing both jobs and getting $400 a week unemployment caused us to empty our accounts, no prospects in sight: BK etc.  Kept the Mortgage going (lawyer said we were foolish, kept hoping for local job) New job was in PA, and had to let it go.  CapOne offered us one card first, raised the limit, then offered the larger limit card we have managed everything responsibly, perhaps I should have let them have the interest instead of paying in full: going to do that from now on so they won't cancel the cards.  Guess we did the Wrong Thing by freaking out and canceling the Juniper card prior to getting it. At this point, it would just be a backup card. Live and Learn, here I thought that having decent scores (all 695 to 720 for both of us) was the key to re-establishing credit worthiness.  We will be buying a house next year, plan on paying with 10% and staying at a loan under $230,000, which is sooo far below what we could do.. now I have worries about that!.

I would try PenFed. You might just be surprised! They are nice, too. If you get a no go do a recon and explain your situation. Their rewards card is excellent - hubby can get reimbursed by work and retain the reward which is credited to the account monthy at closing. I am getting about $20 per month and am very happy with them. If you can clear the approval bar and assuming you have a decent income you could definitely get $10K with them.

You might have to explain the recently opened/closed Juniper accout. It's OK. Just do it.

You were hasty. Once Juniper approved you you should have kept whatever they gave you. IMO WaMu/Providian, HSBC and Juniper are scary. I'd seek credit elsewhere.

Re: Rant about Juniper Low CC limit with FICO of 710

Well, I was getting all excited about the 'PENFED' info until I looked it up and it is, once more, for Military, family members, workers any kind of Fed Gov't connection.  I just stated that we don't qualify for any Federal Credit Union.  Closest I can come is USAA as I was dumped by my lovely LT. Col after 23 years of marriage (he eventually married the 'woman he didn't leave me for) and I was summarily booted out of the infrastructure I had lived in for 23 years.  Don't I get a break somewhere?
