Over the weekend I applied for a credit card through Barclay and also a car loan through my credit union. Well I just just had a Reality check because I was denied for both.
I had read the forums of others that have been approved for both credit cards and auto loans even though they still have baddies on their account so I decided to give it a try.
Although I'm disappointed I didn't get approved I'm thankful to Myfico fam to keep encouraging me to not give up. In fact each rep from the CSR at Barclay and the CU specialist both gave great feedback on what I need to work on.. The other good news is that I think I'll be able to accomplish the goal by Feb 2014 ! Thanks again My FICO family
What did they say you need to work on? Do you have baddies on your account?
Did you call Barclay backdoor and talk to someone? The automated system is known for declining much of the time unless you used there new pre-approval system and applied anyway. but still call.
Who did you apply through for the car loan? you can very much get an auto loan if you need or want one and probably not that bad of rates with 670 (have you seen what score they pulled)
What are your baddies?
unpaid is a killer.

+1
So true! A paid one will go further on a manual review than an unpaid one.
If you don't mind me asking what's your revolving credit history like?

@jre-- my revolving history is 4 yrs 8 mos. I only have the 2 new inquiries with Equfax and TransUnion.
@I was trying to get a car loan pre-approval thru my credit union because the rates are pretty low @ 1.99%.
I did research on Barclay's credit products and based on your history and credit score I would think you'd be an easy approval. They must really not like open collections because based on what i have read you should be an easy approval. I bet if you pay them off (collections) not only will you score go up a bunch, but you'd probably qualify for an ever better credit card.
